Herrenknecht.Connected
Herrenknecht.Connected, the common digital platform of Herrenknecht and its group brands, is revolutionising the tunnelling industry by making the invisible visible. This data management system is leading the way in data transparency, ushering in a new era on the way towards fully automated tunnelling. We are not just recording and analysing data but integrating it from all associated trades — TBMs and peripherals — to provide a comprehensive view of the entire process.
The window to the tunnel
From his office in Frankfurt, a project manager can effortlessly monitor the progress of his tunnelling machine in Sydney live. On the train home he can view live tunnelling data on his smartphone. What was once a futuristic dream is now reality on Herrenknecht Group’s construction sites. Herrenknecht.Connected offers customers worldwide a user-friendly interface that provides a comprehensive view of all relevant parameters, processes, and events using web-based analysis tools, facilitating communication within the project team and enabling swift responses on-site. All data and information on tunnelling is documented transparently, forming the basis for continuous improvement.
A collaborative product with significant impact
Herrenknecht.Connected enables the Herrenknecht Group to provide a central digital platform for tunnelling that includes separation and conveyor systems, segment production as well as TBM and navigation technology. By linking and visualising all data, weak points in the process can be identified and appropriate solutions devised. The knowledge and experience of every department in the Herrenknecht Group has contributed to the development of the customer portal which is delivering valuable output.
Visualise and control the drive
To keep an eye on segment production, individually customisable SDS dashboards are displayed in a playlist on desktop monitors like a virtual assistant. The alarm function enables threshold values for various procedures to be pre-defined, automatically triggering an email alert if they are not accurate. Because many values are only meaningful in context, multiple segment productions can be centrally monitored and compared to each other.
Based on our customers’ requirements and our extensive construction site experience, we have configured dashboards for the following areas:
- Shift.ON provides project teams with automated logging of TBM operating states. Downtime can be categorised with just a few clicks. Other activities can also be manually recorded during shift operations. Shift. On integrates functions for statistics and logs which significantly simplifies analysis processes, which helps to optimise the efficiency of construction sites.
- 3D.ON provides a comprehensive overview of the tunnel project. The three-dimensional visualisation can be enhanced using various sensors and data sources to offer extensive insights and supports communication with external partners. The system displays planned tunnel route, rings and segments from the navigation system and TBM sensor data. The upcoming IFC interface marks the start of our journey towards BIM.
- SDS.ON integrates data from the Segment Documentation System (SDS) into the data management system to enrich the portal with details from segment production. ADD.ONS offers interactive dashboards on production performance, analyses of segment damage and detailed segment positions linked to segment identifiers.
Herrenknecht.Connected is constantly evolving to collect and analyse even more data in order to develop new technologies that enhance safety, sustainability and efficiency in tunnelling.
