How do we define TBM Tunnelling in our context? Initially, our informal notion might be “all TBMs that have names.” However, our more precise definition encompasses all tunnelling projects utilising closed shield machines, whether with segmental or shotcrete lining. You might be curious about the zero-tolerance limit for diameters in the range of several meters. Relative to the total tunnel length, even a slight deviation from the design tunnel axis in the millimetre range can significantly impact the safety and economic efficiency of tunnelling. Hence, our focus in the TBM Tunnelling division is on continuously optimising the basic navigation systems for the various machine types. Besides these, our additional systems are the answer to special requirements of ring building or in the area of data flow and visualisation on the construction site.
