Reason why

The purpose of TUnIS Navigation MTLaserTotalstation is to increase tunnelling performance for long-distance and curved drives by minimising unplanned downtimes.

When tunnelling speed is paramount, minimising downtimes is crucial. This requires reducing necessary control measurements to a minimum while continuously monitoring the TBM position and tunnel movements.

TUnIS Navigation MTLaserTotalstation  determines the horizontal and vertical position of the TBM by a laser total station in conjunction with several reference and target prisms and an electronic target unit inside the TBM. The laser total station is permanently installed in the pipeline and moves forward together with the pipes being pushed in while advancing.

Alternative calculation methods such as vertical coupled navigation provide indications of floating thrust pipes.

Benefits

  • 50% less control measurements
Compared to a gyro-based system: Less interruption of tunnelling, shorter downtimes, increased tunnelling performance.
  • “Quick Check” option
Simplifies and speeds up the control surveying process, reducing downtimes and significantly simplifying system handling.
  • Control of the product pipe position 30-50 m behind the TBM
Ensures less deviation from the design alignment, enables more precise steering and thus reduces the jacking forces – which, in turn, reduces the load on the pipes.
  • Peace of mind in the control cabin
Due to the integrated correction curve, the smart error management and the same familiar TUnIS Navigation MT software interface for any microtunnelling project.
