Reason why

The purpose of TUnIS Navigation MTLaser is to determine the exact position of the tunnelling machine at any time and calculate deviations from the reference alignment.

Short drives of up to 250 metres in length require a cost-effective and efficient option for navigating the TBM. Despite this, real-time monitoring of machine movement is essential for swift operator response to detected variations. Additionally, the system should be expandable for reuse in other projects.

With a minimum of hardware and little installation effort, the basic system TUnIS Navigation MTLaser determines the TBM position with reference to the designed tunnel axis. The horizontal and vertical position of the machine is determined via a reference laser beam, which hits an electronic target unit. An integrated inclination sensor measures pitch and roll.

The TUnIS Navigation MT platform enables the flexible use of different navigation technologies under one roof, thus fulfilling virtually all demands for every machine size and for all alignment geometries.

Benefits

  • Smooth, assisted machine steering
An integrated correction curve assists steady, well-dosed steering of the machine, supporting intactness of the pipes and reducing intermediate jacking stations.
  • Smart error management
Thanks to intuitive, conclusive error analysis and handling, the tunnel quality can be improved and the damage potential reduced.
  • Peace of mind in the control cabin
Due to the integrated correction curve, the smart error management and the same familiar TUnIS Navigation MT software interface for any microtunnelling project.
  • 100% VMT – 100% future-ready
TUnIS software platform is completely developed by VMT and the basis for all our navigation systems: Experience, competence and continuous development integrated.
