A safe, long-lasting tunnel structure requires maximum precision in tunnelling. Deviations from the planned route cost time and money. This is why Gripper TBMs need a reliable and approved navigation system.

TUnIS Navigation Gripper permanently determines and calculates all necessary data and information for navigating the TBM along the tunnel axis. A visible laser beam (class 3R) between the total station and the target plate is used for the calculation.

The external 2-axis inclinometer is specially designed for the harsh operating conditions (strong vibrations in the shield during advance) of the Gripper TBM.

    Thanks to the navigation equipment, which is designed to withstand strong vibrations, precise TBM position determination is ensured at all times and driving off -track is avoided.
  • Avoid downtimes
    In case of fall out of the laser target, the prism system can still be used to determine a continuous, precise TBM position. Due to this redundancy, downtimes can be avoided.
  • Mobile operation
    With the TUnIS.mobile app, the total station can be modified twice as fast, reducing potentially dangerous climbing operations to a minimum at the same time.
